Attention! Starting in Issue 4 Peasant Magazine will be paying a small stipend to contributors, a sum of $0.01 for every 10 words. Thus a 6,000 word short story will pay $6 USD. We purchase both reprint rights and first world-wide publication rights. You should be aware that if your story is published by Peasant Magazine you will no longer be able to sell first publication rights to another publisher. So if you want to get paid more we recommend publishing elsewhere and then you can always submit to Peasant Magazine later for reprinting after you've already been paid by a different publisher.
ARCANE TOMESArcane Tomes / ArcaneTomes.org is an indie fantasy bookstore (of sorts) sponsored by Peasant Magazine and serves to promote Indie Fantasy Books, and also serves to promote Peasant Magazine itself. Joining Arcane Tomes is free and the only requirement is that authors must have self-published at least one book. Literary magazines/journals that publish fantasy stories by indie authors are also acceptable.

Welcome to Peasant Magazine, a proudly independent literary publication dedicated to showcasing indie talent in the realms of fantasy and historical fiction. Each issue brings readers into vivid, immersive worlds - from medieval battlefields and enchanted forests to ancient cities and mythic kingdoms. Our carefully curated short stories capture the grit, grandeur, and imagination of times real and imagined. Published in a classic 8.5 x 11 format, Peasant Magazine offers readers and writers a premium experience while keeping prices affordable. We publish 10+ short stories per issue, with a total word count between 40,000 and 60,000 words. Peasant Magazine is also available in PDF format, and we have plans to introduce epub and audiobook versions. Advertise With Us We believe in supporting the indie author community. Full Page Ad: $20 Discounts based upon placing ads in multiple issues are negotiable. Inquire for details. Our readership is composed of passionate readers, writers, and creators - people who value story, style, and substance. Your ad will appear in both our print and digital editions, helping you to reach an engaged and loyal niche audience who loves historical fiction and fantasy. All funds from advertising goes back towards supporting the magazine's contributors, allowing us to pay authors, illustrators and editors more. All sponsors are also listed in a special "List of Sponsors" page on the Peasant Magazine website (similar to our List of Contributors page), in addition to appearing in the 8.5x11 print version and the PDF/epub versions of the magazine. While we allow our authors to present their work if it family friendly or PG, we must hold our advertisers to a slightly higher standard. In keeping with our values and the tone of our publication, we maintain the following advertising standards:
Acceptable Advertising We welcome advertisements that align with our magazine's literary, creative, or educational focus. This includes (but is not limited to):
Books and publications (especially fantasy, historical fiction, or family-friendly genres)
Prohibited Advertising To ensure a safe and respectful experience for all readers, we do not accept ads containing:
Explicit content (sexual, violent, or graphic imagery or language) All ads must be suitable for a general audience, including teens and families.
Approval & Placement All advertisements are subject to editorial approval. Peasant Magazine reserves the right to decline or request revisions to any ad that does not meet our standards. Ad placements are based on availability and format selected.
